The problem is they grabbed elements from both previous games but streamlined a bunch of stuff away, resulting in an unsatisfying sequel for those that wanted DoW 1 but better and those that wanted DoW 2 but better. The art style does seem to have made many concessions to make it playeable more zoomed out with more stuff going on, such as the unbelievably over-the-top animation and saturated effects. Personally I was a little annoyed the game wasnt on a larger scale like the advertising was hinting. I think the community would have been more forgiving had the 3 factions been less common choices like tau, tyranids and imperial guard or something along those lines. It's allways space marines eldar and orks, man. They went with 3 factions on launch which is fine I guess, but they picked the 3 factions everyone is getting real sick of seeing in games. I actually like the art direction overall, but the powercore, turrets and shield gens everyone was forced to look at on launch didnt look 40k at all, which salted the wounds of the people who allready hated the moba elements. In multiplayer espcially at the start with only power core mode the amount of strategies people could use were very limited thanks to the map design, low line unit health and straightforward objectives.
